What is your role at Dropworks and what do you do?

I am a Senior Scientist. I serve as the technical lead for our internal beta program and for the development of application notes, focusing on the transfer of existing protocols onto our system. I am also leading the effort for a new product development project where the goal is to develop a new protocol/kit. In all cases, my goal is to demonstrate feasibility of new or existing protocols on our instrument.

Why did you decide to work at Dropworks?

I was attracted to Dropworks for the chance to work on a technology impacting multiple application areas and the chance to relocate to beautiful Boulder! Through my role, I’ve had the opportunity to consider the challenges facing a wide range of potential customers and, in doing so, have learned about numerous applications for molecular biology rather than being focused on a specific disease biology. It keeps work interesting!

What do you find to be the best part about working with Dropworks?

The same thing that attracted me to Dropworks is what I enjoy most about my job - the fact that every day is different! Whether I am learning about gene and cell therapies or liquid biopsies, there always seems to be a new application to consider! Whether it’s discussions with colleagues or potential customers, or doing a deep dive in the literature, I’m constantly learning on the job.

What is one thing your colleagues would be surprised to know about you?

I’ve been to over 25 Dave Matthews Band shows!
